Cycling day trip from Cortina d'Ampezzo to Toblach

This ride is a true Dolomites adventure! Starting in the lively mountain town of Cortina d’Ampezzo—a hotspot for winter sports and a gateway to incredible scenery—you’ll head north toward Toblach (Dobbiaco), a peaceful spot famous for its lakes and as a jumping-off point for both Italian and Austrian Alpine fun.

You’ll cover about 47 km, with almost half the distance on scenic gravel or unpaved surfaces—so wide tires and a sense of adventure are recommended. Expect some serious climbs (over 1,280 meters up!) and descents as you wind your way through lush forests and dramatic mountain vistas. Much of the route is on cycle paths, and you’ll rarely be on busy roads, so you’re in for relaxed pedaling and plenty of time to soak in those views.

Max elevation hits almost 2,000 meters, so pack a jacket and some snacks! Toblach, at the end, is perfect for a gelato or a coffee while gazing at the peaks. This is a classic alpine ride combining challenge with serious postcard moments!
