Bikepacking from Bolzano to Innsbruck

This cycling route is a true alpine adventure! Starting in the beautiful Italian city of Bolzano—famous for its mix of Italian and Austrian culture, medieval city center, and as the home of Ötzi the Iceman—you’ll follow about 152 km through the heart of the Alps to Innsbruck, Austria’s chic mountain capital.

Expect plenty of climbing: there’s over 4,000 meters of ascent, with some epic mountain passes and stunning Tyrolean scenery. Most of your ride is on quality surfaces, primarily asphalt and paved cycleways (over 80%!), which means you can focus on the jaw-dropping views and less on potholes. It’s a real treat passing from the apple orchards of South Tyrol up through alpine forests, with quaint villages and mountain vistas at every turn.

Your destination, Innsbruck, is a vibrant sports city known for hosting the Winter Olympics and its picturesque old town surrounded by mountains.
