By bicycle from Zagreb to Novi Zagreb

This ride takes you from the lively heart of Zagreb down to the more modern, spacious neighborhoods of Novi Zagreb. It’s about 15.7 km—enough for a satisfying spin but not so far that you’ll be wiped out. The route is mostly paved (yay, smooth riding!), with the occasional patch of gravel to keep things interesting, and there’s a gentle up-and-down with around 78 meters of climbing overall.

Starting downtown, you’ll pedal away from Zagreb’s historic center—think grand squares, bustling streets, and plenty of café vibes. Then, as you cross the Sava River, the city’s vibe shifts. Novi Zagreb is famous for its wide avenues, open green spaces, and lots of modern apartment blocks built in the Yugoslav era. The roads are pretty quiet, with a good balance of residential streets and bike paths, so it’s a relaxed journey.

Either make it a one-way ride or loop back to soak up the cityscape again. Don’t forget to look back for a great view of Zagreb’s skyline!
