Cycling day trip from Vodnjan to Rovinj

Set off from the charming town of Vodnjan, known for its mix of colorful Venetian architecture and top-notch olive oil, and pedal your way northwest towards the beautiful coastal gem of Rovinj. This 34-kilometer ride has a nice mix of terrain—expect a blend of paved roads, stretches of peaceful gravel tracks, and a few rustic paths. You'll gently climb over 260 meters before enjoying a longer and breezier descent as the route heads toward the Adriatic Sea.

Most of your ride takes you through quiet countryside, past olive groves and rural Istrian villages—perfect for relaxed cycling with plenty of photo stops. Traffic should be pretty light for much of the journey, with only short stints on busier roads. Once you reach Rovinj, you'll be greeted by its iconic old town topped by the St. Euphemia Church and surrounded on three sides by sparkling blue water. This is one of Istria’s most photogenic destinations, and the perfect place to reward yourself with a gelato or seafood meal by the harbor.
