Cycling day trip from Hrušica to Tarvisio

Ready for a scenic border-crossing ride? Start your journey in Hrušica, a peaceful Slovenian village known as the western gateway to the Julian Alps. From there, you’ll wind your way northwest, mostly on smooth cycleways and quiet roads—so you can really soak up the mountain landscapes without too much traffic.

You’ll have a good climb early on, ascending just over 700 meters, but it never gets too harsh. The route takes you through lush forests and rolling alpine meadows, with occasional glimpses of distant peaks. About 97% of the ride is on paved surfaces, so it’s ideal for road bikes, and only a tiny stretch might rattle your wheels on gravel.
