Cycling day trip from Bled to Bohinjska Bistrica

This ride takes you from the iconic lakeside town of Bled to the relaxed mountain hub of Bohinjska Bistrica. At just under 25 km, you’ll cover a good mix of cycling surfaces—mostly smooth asphalt and peaceful, low-traffic roads—with a couple of short stretches of gravel to keep things interesting.

Starting off at Lake Bled, snap a photo of its fairytale island church before heading off into Slovenia’s lush alpine foothills. The route has a fair bit of climbing (prepare those legs!), but you’re rewarded with stunning mountain views and the occasional charming village along the way. Most of the route is pretty quiet, making it a laid-back adventure perfect for soaking up the scenery.

Descending toward Bohinjska Bistrica, the landscape opens up to reveal more of the gorgeous Julian Alps. Once you arrive, you’re perfectly placed to explore Lake Bohinj or rest up with a traditional Slovenian meal in the laid-back town center. All in all, it’s a spectacular ride linking two of Slovenia’s best-loved mountain spots—just be ready for some hills!
