This scenic cycling route takes you from Soacha, a vibrant city just southwest of Bogotá known for its important role in the region’s culture and rapid urban growth, to the charming town of Cota, famous for its dairy farms and beautiful Andean views.
You’ll be riding about 48 km—enough to stretch your legs but nothing too hardcore! Most of the route rolls along smooth, paved cycleways, letting you focus on the scenery rather than dodging potholes. There’s some mild climbing and descending (around 135 meters up and 145 meters down), but with a max elevation just above 2,560 meters, the ride settles comfortably in the high-altitude Colombian plateau.
Expect some peaceful stretches where you can just cruise, mixed with a bit of busier roadway action as you skirt around Bogotá’s outskirts. The prize? Cota’s fresh mountain air and possibly some delicious local cheese as a treat at the destination. Perfect for a long day ride!
