Cycling day trip from Penza to Zasechnoye

This ride takes you from the historic city of Penza out to the quiet village of Zasechnoye, covering just over 25 km. You’ll roll mostly along peaceful roads (about 58% is nice and quiet!), with gentle ups and downs—expect to climb and descend around 265 meters each way, which keeps things interesting but not too tough.

Penza is a vibrant city on the Sura River, known for its literary heritage and leafy parks—definitely worth a morning spin around before you set off. Once you head out, the route is mostly asphalt and paved surfaces, though be ready for a handful of sections where the pavement’s missing (nothing too wild, just keep an eye out).

Zasechnoye sits in a rural patch outside the city, perfect for a mellow finish and a breath of fresh air. With very little busy road riding, this is a great escape if you’re after some countryside and a break from city traffic. Pack a snack and you’ll have a lovely day in the saddle!
