Cycling day trip from Poieni to Bratca

This scenic cycling route takes you from Poieni to Bratca, winding through the dramatic hills of northwestern Romania. Brace yourself for a challenging ride—at 51 km, it’s not the longest, but with over 2,000 meters of ascent and descent, you’ll get a serious workout!

You’ll start in Poieni, a little village perched close to the Apuseni Mountains, offering fresh air and stunning rural landscapes. Expect mixed surfaces along the way—much of your ride (over 60%) is a mysterious mix, but you’ll definitely hit plenty of gravel and rough tracks. Only about 10% of this adventure is on asphalt, so a sturdy gravel or mountain bike is highly recommended.

The ride mostly follows quiet tracks and backroads, weaving through forested hills and dotted meadows. As you approach Bratca, the views stretch out over the lush Crișul Repede valley—a favorite destination for hikers and outdoor lovers.
