Cycling day trip from Otopeni to Siliștea Snagovului

Ready for a mellow cycling escape from the city buzz? Your ride starts in Otopeni, famous as Bucharest’s main airport town, but there’s a lot more than runways here—expect leafy side streets and a surprisingly relaxed start. From Otopeni, you head northeast towards Siliștea Snagovului, a charming village nestled close to the serene Snagov Lake.

The route covers just over 40 km, mostly on quiet roads and a few rustic tracks. Surfaces are a mixed bag—expect a blend of smooth asphalt, gravel, and some ground sections. Around two-thirds is paved or asphalted, but keep an eye out for the occasional bumpy stretch (great excuse to stop and snap a photo!).

With less than 90m climbing, the route’s gentle slips are perfect whether you’re new to cycling or just after a steady cruise. As you approach Siliștea Snagovului, enjoy the calm of the countryside—think open fields, forest patches, and fresh air. Pack some snacks and take a breather by Snagov Lake before heading back.
