Bikepacking from Curtea de Argeş to Cârţişoara

Get ready for an epic ride from Curtea de Argeş up to Cârţişoara! This route covers just over 205 km and is a true adventure through Romania’s dramatic Carpathian Mountains. Curtea de Argeş is famous for its beautiful monastery, so it’s worth a quick look before you set off.

The route is definitely for experienced cyclists—expect a LOT of climbing with close to 8,000 meters of ascent, topping out at a maximum elevation just over 2,100 meters. A big chunk of the journey is on tracks and unpaved surfaces, with stretches of gravel and only about 18% on smooth asphalt. So, a gravel bike or mountain bike is your friend here.
