Bikepacking from Brasov to Ploieşti

Ready for an adventurous ride? This route takes you from the medieval charm of Brașov—a Transylvanian gem surrounded by mountains and famous for sights like the Black Church—all the way to the bustling city of Ploiești, known as Romania’s oil capital and a key hub near Bucharest.

The journey spans about 153 km and, heads-up, it packs a real punch with almost 3,600 meters of climbing and an epic max elevation of roughly 1,880 meters. You’ll be conquering serious ascents and breezy descents as you leave the Carpathians behind and roll into the flatter lands near Ploiești.

Expect a mixed bag for surfaces: roughly one-third unpaved (gravel and ground), with only part of the route on smooth asphalt. A lot of it traces quiet country roads and tracks, which means fantastic countryside views but also a good idea to use a robust gravel, touring, or mountain bike for comfort.
