By bicycle from Eger to Felsőtárkány

Set off from the historic heart of Eger, famous for its impressive castle, thermal baths, and charming Baroque streets. You’ll glide mostly on smooth cycle paths and quiet roads as you head north toward the lush greenery of Felsőtárkány. The route is super beginner-friendly, with a gentle ascent (just over 100 meters) as you leave the city, and hardly any tricky descents.

You’ll pass through a mix of scenic countryside and peaceful neighborhoods, with more than three-quarters of the route paved with lovely asphalt—perfect for a leisurely ride. Keep an eye out for the first green hills signaling your approach to the foothills of the Bükk Mountains.

Felsőtárkány welcomes you with tranquil village vibes and is a gateway to gorgeous hiking and cycling in the Bükk National Park. If you’re up for it, check out the local lake or just relax in the fresh air.
