Cycling day trip from Prešov to Lipany

This route takes you from Prešov, one of Slovakia’s oldest cities known for its charming historic center and vibrant student life, up to Lipany, a cozy little town in the Sabinov district. You’ll cover just over 36 km — perfect for a scenic half-day ride!

After rolling out of bustling Prešov, you’ll quickly find yourself pedaling through gentle countryside, with most of your route (about 90%) on smooth pavement. Expect a mix of quiet roads and dedicated cycleways; only a tiny portion takes you onto gravel or other surfaces, giving you a comfortable ride.

There’s a gradual ascent of around 375 meters, but nothing too steep — just enough to keep things interesting and reward you with lovely views.

Arriving in Lipany, you’ll find a friendly town surrounded by forests and rolling hills, a great spot to grab a snack and relax before heading back or hopping on a train. It’s a satisfying blend of urban energy, peaceful nature, and Slovak village charm all in one ride!
