By bicycle from Budapest XII. kerület to Budapest II. kerület

Hop on your bike for a picturesque ride from Budapest’s leafy 12th district (Hegyvidék) up to the tranquil 2nd district. The route is just under 6 km and has a bit of climbing—it’s the Buda side, after all! You’ll start in the hilly neighborhoods southwest of the city center, winding along mostly quiet roads and some dedicated cycleways (so it’s nice and low on traffic). Most of your journey is on smooth asphalt, making for a comfortable pedal even on a city bike.

The 12th district is famous for its green spaces like Normafa and stunning villa architecture, and you’ll gradually ascend around 90 meters before rolling down past embassy quarters and chic cafes. Your destination is the 2nd district—a peaceful, residential area with lots of parks and great spots for a celebratory coffee. Budapest’s Buda side doesn’t disappoint when it comes to views, so don’t forget to stop and enjoy some panorama along the way!
