By bicycle from Budapest VI. kerület to Budapest IV. kerület

This ride takes you from Budapest’s lively VI. kerület (Terézváros)—famous for its cafés, elegant Andrássy Avenue, and theaters—up north to the quieter, suburban IV. kerület (Újpest). It’s a pretty straightforward 9 km cruise, with most of the route on smooth, paved surfaces, so no need to worry about rough patches. Over two-thirds of the way is on proper cycleways, and busy roads are practically a non-issue.

Heading out of VI. kerület, you’ll weave through some of Budapest’s historic urban heart, maybe even spot the famous Nyugati Station, and then skirt City Park if you take a detour. You’ll gradually head north into the more laid-back Újpest district, peppered with local parks and the vibe of old Budapest’s outskirts.

There’s hardly any climbing—less than 20 meters of ascent—so you’re in for a relaxed spin. With a good mix of access roads and quiet neighborhoods, it’s a great way to bridge the buzz of central Pest with Újpest’s local charm. Grab a coffee in Terézváros before you go, and maybe finish with a stroll along the Danube once you get to Újpest!
