Cycling day trip from Majdanpek to Kladovo

Set out from Majdanpek, a mining town tucked in the green hills of eastern Serbia, and get ready for a whole day of adventure! This route to Kladovo covers just over 105 km and is packed with everything—rolling climbs, endless downhills, and plenty of time away from traffic.

You’ll start off winding through quiet roads and forested tracks, occasionally tackling some hefty ascents (over 2500 m!), so save some energy for the climbs. Surfaces are a mix, with about 17% on smooth asphalt and the rest a patchwork of unpaved, paved, and missing sections—definitely use a sturdy bike, and be ready for some adventure riding!

As you drop down toward the Danube, the descent is spectacular, with open views all the way to Kladovo. This small town sits right on the river with stunning views across to Romania and is famous for the mighty Iron Gates dam and Roman history.
