Cycling day trip from Colle Verde to Rome

Set off from Colle Verde, a peaceful suburb northeast of Rome, and enjoy a scenic ride all the way into the heart of Italy’s famous capital. This approximately 37-kilometer route takes you on mostly quiet roads, so you can really enjoy the countryside vibes as you sweep through rolling terrain (expect a fair amount of ascent and descent—so it’s a fun challenge, especially if you love a bit of up and down!).

The path winds through a mix of newer suburban areas and classic Roman outskirts. Around halfway, you’ll start to sense the city’s energy building as you get closer to Rome. The route is about half paved (asphalt making up most of that), so it’s best suited for a hybrid or sturdy road bike.

When you arrive in Rome, you’re finishing in one of the world’s great historic cities—the ancient heart of the Roman Empire! Why not treat yourself to a gelato or an espresso as a reward? It's a great mix of suburban escape and big city arrival—a perfect way to spend a day on the bike.
