This route is for people who want to get to and from Sooke from the Westshore area on a shorter and quicker route than taking the Galloping Goose Trail all the way. For those that normally cycle the Sooke Highway all the way, it is only 0.2km longer than staying on the highway, but a much nicer ride with less traffic.
This route has more elevation gain...but remember, what goes up, must come down!
Along Sooke Road there is fairly good shoulder with a fog line (where it hasn't worn off) however traffic can move quite quickly and sometimes there is logging truck traffic. Stay visible!
Coopers Cove Crossing. Watch out for fast traffic. Thje CRD and Ministry of transportation will be installing some kind of controlled crossing here in late 2011
There is a short section here on the eastbound side that does not have any shoulder
Here you can either join the Goose trail or take Happy Valley Rd
