Cycling Route Northumberland Tourism's Rice Lake Ramble Back Roads Cycling Loop
The Rice Lake Ramble is a 74km route through the rolling hills of Northumberland County which is favoured by the Toronto Cycling Network. You'll enjoy views of Rice Lake using wonderfully quiet roads. In Harwood, fill up your water bottles with spring water from the Harwood artesian well located at Memorial Park (5453 Front St.). Try a stay at Victoria Inn or Golden Beach Resort and enjoy the views of Rice Lake. Replenish at the Stone School House Cycling Stop (9063 Minifie Rd.) where you will find a cooler at the end of the driveway full of water, power bars, bike tools, pump, spare tube and tire. Near the end of the route, MacKechnie House Bed and Breakfast and The Woodlawn Inn in Cobourg welcome cyclists too. VIA Rail's Bike Train makes a stop in Cobourg, and the Ramble is a more advanced route to take from the train station.
