Very tough march organized by the Granabike club. I’m copying its route description because it’s unbeatable:

'In a neutral form, we will ascend the street Carlos Carreras and Trinidad Carreras, to the right of the course of the river Monachil, accompanied by the murmur of water, we will cross the river over the last bridge of the town, starting the first ramps of the day to begin to gain meters of elevation that we have ahead of us.

The first asphalt ramps are tough and as we are cold we must take them slowly, leaving Monachil trapped next to its river, we aim to immerse ourselves in the Barranco del Pollino, with the imposing slope of Cerro Huenes before us, among cortijos, we continue the ascent, reaching the Cortijo de la Umbría, where the ramps give us a short respite and place us at the edge of the Natur Park, with a beautiful panoramic view of this slope that we have been climbing and of the wall that in front of us forms Los Llanos.

We overcome the Barranco de la Corneta maintaining a height of 1100 meters, after leaving a left diversion the ascent gives us a slight respite in the form of a descent, to connect the track that climbs from the Cortijo de la Perrera, again climbing over almond fields we gain the height of the Cortijo del Barranco del Lobo, a privileged point to observe the canyon that makes up the Arroyo del Huenes and the track that lies in front of us.

From the viewpoint, a trail descends diagonally to the slope, depositing us on the dry riverbed of the Barranco del Lobo, connecting the track next to the cortijo to the left and smoothly descending along the track, taking the left turn that will take us to cross the Arroyo del Huenes.

After crossing the watercourse, it’s time to switch gears again; a succession of bends and turns leads us to climb the slope next to the Cortijillo, passing between fields and working houses and regaining height lost earlier. Ahead a couple of strong ramps that calmly leave us on the high part of the track of Los Llanos that we take to the left until we reach the Hervidero.

The Hervidero will be the privileged point where we will stock up on water and regain strength before proceeding on our way, from this point we will reach La Zubia, so we bundle up before letting ourselves fall on the main track to Cumbres Verdes.

At the intersection of the urbanization we take to the left, to our right a beautiful panoramic view of Granada and its Vega opens up, we leave the streets behind and continue on the track, immersed in a dense pine forest towards the Collado del Tejarillo, continuing our descent by the main path and the track of Pinos de Pareja, until the area of Eras Altas, where a short descent leads us into the Barranco de Los Corvales, ascending next to the headquarters of the Club Alborde de La Zubia to the Cumbres Verdes road, which we cross to link on the sports field with Camino de Las Satajardas.

The track, freshly repaired, is very wide and rises mercilessly; after the descent, the muscles must recover, so we link this section calmly, after overcoming the Barranco de Satajardas, we take a deviation to the left that leads us to a rise and fall over almond fields, connecting the path of Los Leñeros, again ascending.

We veer left, along the path we were previously taking, the slope is gentler, which is greatly appreciated, gaining in a few minutes the recreational area of Colinas Bermejas, a privileged viewpoint over Monachil and a large part of the route that we have already traveled.

It’s time to descend towards Monachil and we do so by linking the trail section alongside the Acequia del Huenes and the Cortijo de los Macocos; the track, in a steep descent, leads us along the side of the Monachil neighborhood, descending by the Barranco de los Álamos until we reach the road that gives access to the village.

Stretching our legs along the asphalt access, we will arrive after passing through the town hall square and the church until the square by the river where the finish line and the tent for the participants' food will be set up.'
