About This Route

This is a great route for a family ride. At 54km most of the route is along bike paths, however there are some sections on the road, so families with smaller children will have to use their discretion. Some parts of the path is on gravel and near Wolfsthal the path goes through a field. For this reason I wouldn't recommend doing this route on a road bike. There is plenty of beautiful countryside to see along the way, a number of castles, Hainburg, Schloss Hoff, and Devin Hrad, and plenty of rest points, cafes and even a childrens playground. At a leasurely pace, taking time to visit the various castles, towns and villages along the way, it can take most of the day. Non-stop it can be completed in under 3 hours.

This cycling route is ideal for: MTB City bike

You will cycle on the following surfaces: Paved Unpaved Gravel

Highlights Along The Route

Point of Interest

Google Earth is a little out of date, according to the map there is only a patch of dirt here but actually you will find a little log cabin serving beers, and soft drinks and some snack foods such as hot dogs and Klobasa. There is also a children's playground nearby. There are some other little cafes and bars further along the road and in Devinska itself but this is my favourite stopping point.

Point of Interest

The cycle path here goes through a wooded area and then across a field. It is quite possible to do this on a mountain, or hybrid bike but I would not recommend it on a road bike. If you are on a road bike or wish to shorten the route a little you can continue here on the road and rejoin the bike path after Wolfsthal.

Point of Interest

There are some nice riverside cafes here, just off to the right and through the car park. If you are following this route at a leisurely pace it's a good point to take 15 mins to enjoy a coffee, a beer or an ice-cream.
