S kolesom med pastirje

The start of this challenging but very beautiful panoramic cycling route is located in front of the Tourist Information Center on the Main Square in Kamnik. The route first leads towards the Tuhinj Valley where in the settlement of Potok you continue towards the Snovik Thermal Spa. From the thermal baths, follow the valley of the Snovik stream uphill. The path begins to climb steeply towards the Osredkar farm and the hamlet of Poljana up to Črnivec at 902 meters above sea level. Here you cross the regional road and ascend on a gravel road around Kranjska Reber to the Kašna pasture. You continue with a descent to Kranjski Rak where the ascent to Velika Planina begins. Proceed towards the Quiet Valley where the last ascent past the shepherd village to the Green Edge awaits you. From the Green Edge, return along the same path to Kranjski Rak, where you descend steeply right down to Krivčevo, joining the regional road Gornji Grad-Kamnik at the valley's end. From Godič, use a less trafficked path on the left bank of the Kamniška Bistrica passing the monastery in Mekinje. Cycling on Velika Planina is permitted only on hardened paths up to the Green Edge, so do not ride off-route or disturb the grazing animals. It is also possible to combine the route with a descent into the Kamniška Bistrica valley by gondola.
