10 Castro de Filabres-Tabernas

Overview: The route leaves Castro de Filabres via a lovely path passing under a small bridge and continues through the terraced gardens lining the slopes of the ravine. Crossing the ravine and the subsequent trail is the only section that might present some difficulty. The stage continues descending along a rambla for over 18 km following the route marked by GR-244. Very close to Tabernas, the route leaves GR-244 and crosses for 5 km some of the most iconic spots of the Tabernas Desert. For example, just before km 20 is the filming location of a sequence from the movie 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.' Technical data: The stage is a gentle descent to Tabernas along a rambla that only has a few sections that are a bit more sandy and rocky. The last 5 km have a more undulating profile with some slightly tougher climbs.
