Bormio - Torri di Fraele 1885mt (laghi di Cancano)

12 km Distance
720 m Ascent
10 m Descent

(1 rating)

This a very short ride, that could be helpful for a little warm up. This route is a new climb that can be added to road bike maps only since a few years.

Since 2006 it was infact unpaved. The 18 harpins leads to the Fraele towers, which once were used as strategic point of communication. This road is very ancient and once was known as the "salt & wine route" and connected Valtellina with Switzerland. Immediately after the tower two artifial lakes are used for the production of elecricity . Directions: cycle in direction of Livigno, and at Premadio, 150mt after Pizzeria fiordalpe follow the sign for LAGHI DI CANCANO (on your right) Once you get to the top you can only go back since the road around the lakes is not aspahlted. You can go back to the main route SS301 (on the way to Livigno) and follow the sign for the Le Motte, and then, once again in Bormio

You can continue your tour climbing Bormio 2000 (other 10km)

Thank you! Hotel la Genzianella
