A cycling route starting in Martos, Andalusia, Spain.
Overview
We set off from Martos, take the Velda lane to join the VÃa Verde heading towards Alcaudete. We leave this at Venta Pantalones near Cortijo El Pontón, pass the venta and take a left onto the lane crossing the Sierra. We descend to the dam, enter Las Casillas, and begin to circle the perimeter of the reservoir. We exit via the tail along an olive grove lane towards Cazalla, the old oil factory. We reach the road connecting Martos and Fuensanta, descend, and turn right to begin the ascent to the Coto de Fuensanta. The surface is asphalted due to farmers' interventions to support agricultural work; it was formerly a dirt road. The last stage of the climb is beautiful, technical, and tough. Once at the summit, we descend again towards the Los Villares road via olive paths to reach a paved section leading to the Los Villares road. We turn left and arrive back in Martos. Along this route, various bird species can be observed at the reservoir, and some wildlife in the coto. The route passes through traditional olive groves and Mediterranean forest. On the first stretch of the climb to the coto, you will find a centennial holm oak on the left. This route can be done any time of the year.
