Excursión ciclista de un día de Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux a Huez

This ride takes you from the small, lively suburb of Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux on the edge of Grenoble, right to legendary Huez—home to the famous Alpe d’Huez climb. It’s a journey of just over 71 km, and you’ll rack up more than 2,200 meters of climbing, so get ready for a solid day in the saddle!

Leaving Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux, you’ll wind through quiet roads and some cycleways, gradually leaving the city behind for stunning Alpine scenery. The mix of surfaces (mostly good asphalt, with a few stretches on gravel and ground) keeps things interesting, so a road or adventure bike is your friend here.

As you approach Huez, the real climbing begins: this area is cycling paradise, having hosted countless Tour de France showdowns. If you reach the top, treat yourself to incredible mountain views—and maybe a coffee in the village. Don’t forget, much of the route is peaceful but expect some busy road segments and those famous hairpin bends!
