Bikepacking de Lyon a Aviñón

This route will take you from the vibrant city of Lyon to the historic charm of Avignon—an epic ride of about 289 km! Starting in Lyon, known for its riverside bike paths, renaissance architecture, and unbeatable food scene, you’ll roll south through the beautiful Rhône Valley. Expect mostly smooth, paved surfaces, with over 45% of your route on dedicated cycleways and a good chunk on quiet roads. There are a few climbs (about 1,177 meters of ascent), but nothing too daunting; enjoy some welcome descents on your way, too!

As you cover the distance, you’ll pass through picturesque vineyards, sleepy villages, and open countryside. When you reach Avignon, you’ll be greeted by the iconic Pont d’Avignon and the stunning Palais des Papes, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
