This relaxed route takes you from Poplar—right by the historic docks in East London—out to East Ham, a vibrant neighborhood with a lively high street and great curry houses. The ride covers just over 8 km, perfect for a morning spin or quick weekend adventure. You’ll pedal mostly on smooth cycleways and quiet roads (so it’s pretty chill, traffic-wise!), with hardly any busy street crossings.

You’ll start off near Canary Wharf’s shadow, passing pockets of docklands history before cruising over the River Lea. Expect mostly flat terrain—the highest point is just a gentle 17 meters up. Look out for stretches of leafy parks and multicultural street life as you roll through Plaistow toward East Ham.

East Ham is famous for its Victorian architecture, historic Boleyn Ground (ex-home of West Ham United), and delicious South Asian eats. A welcoming finish for your easy city ride! Don’t forget to reward yourself with a samosa or two at the end.
