Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Prato allo Stelvio à Merano

This scenic cycling route starts in the charming alpine village of Prad am Stilfser Joch, at the gateway to the legendary Stelvio Pass. From here, you’ll pedal your way east through the lush Vinschgau Valley towards the Mediterranean flair of Merano, one of South Tyrol’s prettiest spa towns.

The ride is mostly downhill, with a whopping 860+ meters of descent and just a gentle 260 meters of ascent—so you can really enjoy the scenery without burning out your legs. Most of the route is smooth tarmac (over 90% paved), and you’ll spend nearly half your time on dedicated cycleways, so it’s a relaxing ride. Expect beautiful orchards, vineyards, and mountain views all the way.

You’ll cruise into Merano, famous for its thermal spas, art nouveau architecture, and palm-lined promenades. If you’ve got time at the end, treat yourself to some Italian gelato or a soak in a spa—quite the reward after a ride through two cultures and stunning Alpine landscapes!
