Grande Anello Cycling Loop

A big, all-round loop built for adventurous riders. You can hop on anywhere and ride it in either direction. Expect a lot of unpaved riding—long stretches of gravel and some loose stone—with bits of tarmac linking it all together. There are quiet back roads and a few busier sections, so bring lights and keep your head up where traffic appears. The route packs in plenty of climbing, with steady grinds and short, punchy ramps, so low gearing is your friend. A gravel bike with 40 mm+ tires or a hardtail MTB is ideal. After rain, some parts can be muddy or rutted; in dry weather it’s faster but dusty. Services aren’t nonstop, so refill water and snacks whenever you get the chance. Navigation helps—carry the GPX and a power bank. It’s a solid day out for strong legs, or you can split it into two easier stages with an overnight. Clockwise or counterclockwise—your call, the views and variety deliver either way.
