I wanted to do this ride ever since I visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu for the first time in February of 2015, but was unable to find a bike to do so then. A little over a year later, during my third visit, I was able to borrow a bike from a fellow parishioner, who had gone there (a 300km trip) on it. Though I expected a paved road, it wasn't so and the bike being a single-speed mountain bike became handy. Even so, it was very difficult to pedal along some stretch of this dirt road due to it being very sandy in that area. Although I couldn't accomplish my original goal of riding to Mannar and back (due to borrowing the bike only for 3 hours) I'm still satisfied that I could ride along this road in the middle of a jungle.
