Aurillac in bici

In 2019, we did self-supported touring for a little less than 2 months from mid-September through early November. Day 28 - Aurillac Circle to Puy Mary This ride from Aurillac is always a wonderful and outstandingly scenic ride. We have climbed the Puy Mary many times over the years, including multiple assents from each of the three approaches to the Pas de Peyrol. We cannot recommend this area more highly. It is one of our favorite places in France.

In 2019, we did self-supported touring for a little less than 2 months from mid-September through early November. Day 29 - Aurillac to Montmurat Bagnac With the exception of traffic on the roads getting out of Aurillac, this was pretty much a very low traffic route. Most of D45 was excellent country road. And the portion that wasn't mostly had bicycle lane. We highly recommend this route.

In 2019, we did self-supported touring for a little less than 2 months from mid-September through early November. Day 27 - Aurillac Circle to Lacapelle-del-Fraisse This was a really pleasant ride through nice countryside. On the way out, we were entirely on low-traffic roads after leaving Aurillac. On the return, we were on D920, which has some level of traffic. It wasn't bad, but the small roads would be better. We needed to hustle, so we return via this more major road. Note also that the final descent on the approach to Arpajon-sur-Cère is a very fast one for those who like speed. Part of the ride on the various smaller roads was on the designated bike route to the Valley of the Lot River. This is well worth following. The signage along the route was excellent. We recommend highly these small roads south of Aurillac.
