Here’s a fun route if you’re up for escaping the city! Start out in bustling Taipei, famous for its sizzling night markets, Taipei 101, and endless energy. Roll south through a network of mostly smooth cycleways – perfect for soaking in the riverside scenery while dodging city traffic. You’ll cover about 50 km, with just enough ascent (around 300 meters) to keep things interesting but not punishing. Most of your ride hugs quiet roads and car-free paths, but you’ll dip onto the occasional busy stretch, so stay alert.

As you cruise out of the Taipei sprawl, you’ll pass through more rural landscapes before arriving in Daxi. This old town in Taoyuan is known for its charming baroque-style streets and the famous Daxi Old Street where you can reward yourself with tofu snacks or a visit to the riverside park. Bring a camera—the views and local culture along the way are definitely worth a few photo stops!
