Ready for a fun ride? This route takes you from Newport, right at the heart of the Isle of Wight, to the classic seaside town of Sandown. It’s a lovely 17.5 km spin, mostly on smooth paved surfaces (about 80%), with a good chunk following dedicated cycleways—so you’ll have plenty of space to enjoy the countryside.

Expect gentle ascents (just under 78 meters up), and a very manageable descent leading you towards the coast. Along the way, you’ll cruise past quiet roads, a few tracks, and even a bit of loose gravel to keep things interesting.

Starting in Newport, you’re just steps from historic Carisbrooke Castle and some great local cafés for a pre-ride snack. When you roll into Sandown, you’ll be welcomed by a classic Victorian esplanade and one of the island’s best sandy beaches—perfect for a post-ride dip or fish and chips.
