This ride takes you from the charming Austrian town of Hainburg an der Donau right into the heart of Slovakia’s lively capital, Bratislava. At just over 21 km, it’s a perfect leisurely morning or afternoon adventure—almost entirely on paved surfaces (mostly asphalt and concrete), with more than half the journey on dedicated cycle paths or quiet roads.

You’ll start with Hainburg’s well-preserved medieval gates and follow the gentle roll of the Danube, enjoying a mild ascent and descent along the way (nothing too daunting!). The path meanders through stretches of peaceful riverside scenery, before you cross the border (don’t forget your passport, just in case), arriving in Bratislava with its iconic hilltop castle and bustling Old Town.
