In bici da Ledeberg a Evergem

Roll out from lively Ledeberg, a Ghent district known for its weekly market on Ledebergplein, and cruise north on bike-friendly streets. Skirt the Scheldt/Leie rivers to slip past the city center with minimal traffic—expect a few stretches of classic Ghent paving stones—but most of the ride is smooth asphalt or concrete. Swing by Rabot and aim for the canal zone; separated cycleways guide you toward Wondelgem and into Evergem. You’ll likely cross one of the big canal bridges—mind the occasional opening for ships and keep to the bike lanes.

It’s about 12 km and basically flat, with only a few dozen meters of gentle up and down. The route is largely quiet roads and dedicated cycleways, with just short busier links.

Finish in Evergem, gateway to the Meetjesland. If you’ve got time, detour to Doornzele Dries, one of the largest village greens in Flanders.

Tips: watch tram tracks near Ledeberg, be ready for wind along the canal, and expect mostly paved surfaces with the odd cobbled patch in town.
