Get ready for a scenic and, frankly, quite hilly ride from Oberursel up to Schmitten! Starting off in the charming town of Oberursel, right at the foot of the Taunus mountains and just a stone's throw from Frankfurt, you'll cruise out past old timbered houses before heading straight into forested countryside.

This 16.5-kilometer route is no walk in the park—expect a persistent climb, with more than 550 meters of ascent as you wind deeper into the Taunus. About half the ride is on paved or asphalt roads, but you’ll also hit stretches of gravel and forest tracks (so maybe leave the skinny tires at home).

Schmitten awaits at nearly 700 meters elevation, surrounded by rugged woodland—perfect for a post-ride snack and a deep breath of fresh mountain air. Fun fact: Schmitten is a popular base for people hiking or riding up the famous Feldberg, the highest peak in the Taunus.
