If you're looking for a scenic ride along Lake Balaton, the route from Tihany to Zánka is a great pick! Starting in Tihany, you'll roll out from one of Hungary’s prettiest peninsulas, famous for its Benedictine Abbey and stunning views over the lake. The route covers about 22.5 km and is mostly smooth sailing on asphalt, with a slight ascent at the beginning (Tihany sits up on a hill), but from there, it’s mostly gentle undulations and a pleasant descent towards Zánka.

You’ll mostly be riding on dedicated cycleways and quiet roads, so the traffic is minimal, letting you really soak in the peaceful, rural scenery and glimpses of the lake through the trees. As you approach Zánka, a lakeside village popular for its summer camps and beaches, you’ll notice the vibe shifts to a slower, more laid-back pace—think ice cream kiosks and chilled waterfront hangouts.
