Modello di percorso
Ready for a scenic ride from the picturesque hilltop town of Formello to the heart of Rome? This ~40 km route starts with a gentle climb (just enough to get the legs warmed up), then rolls south toward the Eternal City. You’ll mostly follow quiet roads and dedicated cycleways, giving you plenty of chances to soak up the countryside—and you’ll drop nearly 400 meters in elevation along the way, so don’t worry too much about big hills.
Formello, known for its medieval old town and as a gateway to the lush Veio Park, is the perfect place for a laid-back coffee before setting off. As you cruise toward Rome, the city opens up at the horizon, and soon enough, you’re rolling onto historic cobblestones and into its vibrant chaos.
Most of the ride is on paved or asphalt surfaces (about 60%), with brief sections where the exact surface is unknown—so it’s best to be prepared for anything. You’ll spend much of your time on cycle paths and quiet roads, with only a couple of busier stretches as you approach Rome’s urban core. Ride safe, snap plenty of photos, and enjoy your Roman arrival!
