This route takes you from the leafy hills of Budapest’s XII. kerület—known for its elegant villas and close proximity to the Buda hills—down to the lively urban heart of the IX. kerület, home to the vibrant neighborhoods around the Danube and the famous Great Market Hall.

You’ll start high up, with a gentle descent through quiet residential streets (and enjoy some gorgeous city views if you look back). Most of your ride is on well-maintained, paved roads, with a good stretch of dedicated cycleways for relaxed riding. There’s just a small section with paving stones, adding a little bit of Old Budapest charm. The route is largely on quiet roads, so it’s beginner-friendly and rarely stressful.

On arrival in District IX—Ferencváros—you’ll find yourself close to the river, urban parks, and a ton of cozy cafes and eateries. The whole ride covers just over 8 km, making it a perfect way to see Budapest from above and below in under an hour. Don’t forget to check out the Central Market Hall at the finish—one of the best spots in the city for a post-ride snack!
