07 Linz - Melk - St Pölten

Found a bike shop in Linz opening already at 8 to fix the skope that broke 30 km before Linz yesterday. After breakfast at McDonalds (very localized Austrian menu!) I took off to Mauthausen, mostly known for its slave labour concentration camp, well worth a visit. It is a tough ascent up to the camp but bear in mind that inmates had to carry stones up form the river until the perished. 

Very good bike tracks along the river to Melk, with its great abbey overlooking the river and thereafter leftt  the river on nice little trafficed country roads to St Pölten.
