This isn’t a route for the faint of heart: it traverses the daunting Central Mountain Range, with a max elevation over 3,000 meters! Expect a real mix of surfaces (paved roads are common, but some sections aren’t so smooth) and mostly quiet roads and scenic tracks—perfect for soaking up epic highland and forest views.

On the final stretch, you descend towards Hualien City, nestled between mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Hualien is famed for its laid-back vibe and proximity to the dramatic Taroko Gorge.
