Bikepacking z Xinzhu do Yilan

Ready for an epic ride across northern Taiwan? This route takes you from the bustling city of Hsinchu, known as Taiwan’s “Windy City” and the heart of its tech industry, all the way to the lush, laid-back coastal town of Yilan. It’s a serious journey—about 212 km long, so saddle up for a full adventure, maybe split over two days if you want time to enjoy the scenery.

You’ll climb and descend quite a bit, with nearly 4,800 meters of total ascent packed along the way, and hit a max elevation just over 900 meters. The ride is a cool mix: plenty of peaceful roads and cycleways make for relaxed pedaling, with only short stretches on busier roads. Surfaces are mostly paved, but do prepare for some missing or mixed surfaces—perhaps a little gravel or the odd rough patch, so a reliable bike is a must.

Arriving in Yilan, you’re greeted with hot springs, Pacific views, and great local eats. Whether you’re in it for the endurance or just the scenery, this route is a brilliant way to see both Taiwan’s techy side and its natural beauty.
