This roughly 30 km cycling route takes you northwest out of the heart of Dresden, mostly along smooth, paved paths—so it’s great for almost any type of bike. You’ll roll along stretches of the Elbe River, with lots of scenic river views and only gentle uphills (ascent under 73 m).

Leaving Dresden, you’ll pass some stunning architecture and leafy parks, then cruise through peaceful countryside and small villages. About 45% of the ride is on dedicated cycleways, and most of the rest is on tranquil paths or quiet roads, so you can really relax and enjoy the scenery.

Arriving in Meissen, you’ll spot the red-roofed skyline and the towering Albrechtsburg Castle—the oldest castle in Germany! Meissen’s also famous for its porcelain, so stick around for a coffee and a peek at the historic old town before heading back. All in all, it’s a chill and scenic ride great for a half-day adventure.
