Hop on your bike in Bochum, a lively city known for its industrial heritage and the famous Deutsches Bergbau-Museum (Mining Museum). This ride is around 18 km, mostly on quiet roads and smooth asphalt, making for a relaxed outing with some lovely scenery thrown in!

You’ll pedal through a good variety of landscapes: urban stretches easing into greener, quieter zones as you roll out of Bochum. The ride gently climbs and falls (about 150 meters up and 170 down), so expect a few light hills, but nothing too tough. Most of the way is paved or asphalt, perfect for all bike types, with just a small sprinkle of gravel and paving stones.

As you cruise into Castrop-Rauxel, you’ll arrive in a town shaped by coal mining history and dotted with leafy parks. Take a breather at one of its cozy cafes, or explore the vast Stadtgarten park. All in all, it’s a great route for a laid-back day on two wheels, with a nice mix of city bustle and quiet green spaces!
