This scenic cycling route starts in the spa town of Bad Wildungen, famous for its beautiful parks, historic old town, and wellness resorts. From here, you’ll wind your way north toward Waldeck, nestled above the sparkling Edersee and crowned by its impressive castle.

The ride is about 17 km with a fair bit of climbing (almost 360 meters up!), so be ready for some steady uphill stretches—especially as you near Waldeck. But don’t worry, the roads are almost entirely paved (mostly smooth asphalt), and you’ll spend much of your journey on peaceful paths and quiet country roads, perfect for soaking in the Hessian landscape.

Along the way, you’ll pass through forests and fields, and the views get better the higher you climb. Reaching Waldeck, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas over the Edersee and the chance to explore the historic Waldeck Castle. Don’t forget to grab a post-ride snack in the charming town square!
