Most of the route sticks to quiet and access roads, and everything’s paved (mostly smooth asphalt), so it’s beginner‑friendly. There’s a brief busier stretch: just keep an eye out for buses and parked‑car doors.

You’ll cross the Grand Canal on your way down, swapping the bustle of the city centre—think Georgian squares, colourful doors, and the River Liffey—for the village feel of Rathmines. Rathmines was once its own township and today it’s known for redbrick terraces, great coffee spots, and the beautifully restored Stella Cinema.

Perfect little ride for a coffee run or an evening spin. Lock up on the main street and enjoy the buzz, or detour along the canal if you want a scenic cooldown.
