Rowerowa z San Michele do Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino

A short, vineyard-hopping spin from San Michele (St. Michael | Eppan) to Caldaro/Kaltern along the South Tyrolean Wine Road. Roll out from San Michele, the main village of Appiano/Eppan, and pick up the signed cycleway heading south. It’s mostly smooth, paved riding with gentle ups and downs; traffic is minimal, and you’ll thread between vineyards and a few apple orchards. Expect a brief cobbled stretch as you pass through village centers and a couple of pedestrian areas—just ease off and share the space.

You’ll finish in Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, famous for its wine culture (think light, local Schiava/Vernatsch) and a lovely historic center with cafés around the piazza. The South Tyrolean Wine Museum sits right in town if you want a quick culture stop.

Feeling like extending it? From Caldaro it’s an easy extra roll down to Lake Caldaro (Kalterer See), one of the warmest bathing lakes in the Alps. Perfect for a post-ride dip or a lakeside gelato.
