Spin out from central Cairo, the “City of a Thousand Minarets,” and head west toward the Nile. You’ll cross one of the big bridges and then settle into a mostly quiet-road cruise toward Giza. Expect a few livelier stretches near major arteries and bridge approaches—stay alert and take the quieter side streets when you can.

Hugging the river at points gives classic Cairo views: feluccas, island neighborhoods, and a skyline punctuated by minarets. Roll into Giza and you’re within reach of the legendary Giza Plateau, home to the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx—one of the world’s last surviving ancient wonders.
